Granol'therm DS
Waterproofing adhesive and basecoat mortar.
Field of Application
Granol'therm DS is used for fixing insulation panels in applications below ground level or under the socle profile. It is also used as a reinforcing and levelling base coat with fibreglass mesh incorporated.
Preparation substrate
The substrate needs to be dry, straight and free of oil, dust, or other repellant layers. Infiltration of moisture in the inner wall or through the floor by ascending moisture need to be avoided. To achieve this a moisture barrier must be provided horizontally as well as vertically.
Application
Always start with mixing the Granol'therm DS in its container to ensure the mixture is homogeneous before adding cement or pouring it over in another tub.
Mix Granol'therm DS with cement in a 1:1 ratio, using a mixer at low speed until a homogenous mass is obtained. To increase hardness, the cement content can be increased to 1:1,3. To increase ease of application the product can be diluted with 5% water. The mixed product must be applied within 2 to 3 hours.
As moisture barrier 2 layers are needed. Layers can be applied using a brush. In this application, the product is used pure and can be diluted with 5% water to increase workability. Layer thickness: ± 2mm
As an adhesive, the product is mixed with cement according to the prescribed ratio. The substrate needs to be fully covered with the mortar using a notched trowel. Afterward, the insulation panels are pushed in this fresh mortar. It is also possible to use extra anchors.
As a base coat, the Granol'therm DS is mixed with cement according to the prescribed ratio. The product can be applied with a trowel over the whole surface of the insulation boards. If anchors are used, it is necessary to cover them accordingly to ensure good adherence and water barrier. The fibre mesh must be embedded in this layer. Layer thickness: ±3-4mm

Post-Treatment
Drying time depends on humidity, temperature, airflow and thickness of the layer. At 20°C and at a relative humidity of 50% drying time is 24 hours.

As fixing mortar 2kg/m² of Granol'therm DS and 2 tot 2,6kg/m² of cement.
As armament mortar 1,3kg/m² of Granol'therm DS and 1,3 to 1,7 kg/m² of cement.
