Silicate-based decorative plasters

Each of our Granokat products guarantee optimal quality.

Granokat KR
Silicate plaster with stucco texture.
Field of Application
High-quality coating material for producing stucco-type stippling plaster finishes on the outer surfaces of mineral substrates capable of silicification such as lime or cement plaster, sand-lime brick masonry or silicate and snowcrete coatings in the preservation of historical monuments.
Can be used as a final coat for Granol’therm external thermal insulation composite systems or as a rustic wall coating for interior design.
Composition
Special water glass-based, single-component organosilicate plaster.
Colours
White, as standard warehouse stock. Can be shaded on request according to our colour card.
Characteristics
Very high water vapour permeability. Weatherproof according to DIN 18363, mat, high resistance to atmospheric influences, decay-proof, not water-expandable, not film-forming, environmentally friendly.
Very high resistance to environmental pollutants. Contains no plasticizer, solvent or preserving agents.
Preparation substrate
Substrates must be flat, solid, capable of silicification, clean and dry. Loose plaster must be removed and filled where necessary. In the case of pastel shades or full colour coatings, a fluate coat is to be applied to the entire surface or only the freshly filled areas.
The prepared areas should be pre-coated with Granokat’plus STP, diluted to a maximum of 20% with Granokat’plus SV, in the colour of the decorative plaster concerned.
The latest versions of the regulations under DIN 18363, VOB, Part C and the BFS instructions relating to the work areas concerned must be observed.
In the case of dubious substrates, please consult our application advisory service.
Application
The coating materials should be stirred thoroughly before use. Depending on substrate and weather conditions, they can be adjusted to a consistency suitable for trowelling by adding a maximum of 5% Granokat’plus SV.
Granokat KR should be applied in granule thickness using a stainless steel float. Then texture in a circular motion, using a plastic smoothing trowel or a wooden or PU float.
To avoid join marks, connected areas should always be completed “wet-in-wet” without interruption.
Tools and equipment should be cleaned with water immediately after use. Objects such as windows, window sills, etc. should be covered up carefully.

Drying time:
At + 20 °C and 65% relative humidity, surface drying time is approximately 12 hours. These times are longer at lower temperatures and higher humidity.
Consumption
Granule size 2.0 mm approx. 3.2 kg/m²
Granule size 3.0 mm approx. 4.3 kg/m²
For an exact calculation, precise coverage should be determined by way of a test application on the object concerned.

Danger references
Do not apply in temperatures below 10°C, in extremely high humidity, where there is risk of frost or in blazing sunshine. Caution: corrosive! Protect glass panes, tiles, bricks, marble and plants against splashing! A waiting time of 3 days (at 20°C/65% relative humidity) should be observed between operations in order to avoid blooming. Application must be carried out with due regard for the relevant safety provisions. In order not to impair its properties, Granokat KR may not be mixed with other materials. All safety-related data are contained in the safety data sheet and must be heeded.
