Field of Application
Badigeon is suitable for painting any mineral-based substrate, inside as well as outside. The substrate may consist of masonry, cement surfaces, plastered surfaces or natural stone masonry. Badigeon can be applied using different painting techniques from traditional chalk painting to thick painting to lavis painting.
 
Composition
Badigeon is a water-based dispersion paint made of air-slaked lime strengthened with copolymer resin. The paint is coloured with mineral pigments.
 
Characteristics
Badigeon is a decorative lime paint for painting interior and exterior walls. With the proper techniques, any desired finish aspects can be achieved (brush patterns, patina, whitewashed, et cetera).
 
 
Preparation substrate
The mineral surface should properly be made clean and free of dust. Remnants of old paint layers, grit, or mould oil should be removed. When applying the paint, the temperature of the substrate and the surrounding environment should be no lower than 5º C and no higher than 30º C. The use of this paint on frozen or thawing substrate is prohibited or if there is a frost risk after application.
Application
Badigeon is applied in two or three layers with a brush or roller or can also be sprayed with a paint sprayer. Allow a few hours waiting time between the application of each later. Painting equipment can be cleaned with clean water or with water and detergent.
Consumption
0.6 to 0.8 kg/m² depending upon the porosity of the substrate.

Packaging
Badigeon is packaged in 18 kg plastic buckets.
The shelf life in original packaging and protected against frost and heat is 12 months.
 


Remarks
The work should be carried out according to the general practices of the painting trade and the guidelines issued by the WTCB or the guidelines of the French standard NF P 74-201 (ref. DTU 59.1) should be followed.
The colour of the different manufacturing lots may vary slightly. For one worksite, the product with the same manufacturing reference number should be used.

Preparation mixture
The dispersion paint is watered down with clean water.
The quantity is dependent upon the absorption capacity of the substrate and the desired finish.
Stir the paint regularly during application.
