Tradi’chaux Clair
Heavy-lime coating
Field of Application
Tradi'chaux Clair covering can be used for renovation or on new buildings.
Tradi'chaux Clair coatings can be applied directly to the support surface, using the 'one-coat' technique.
Tradi'chaux Clair can be applied by hand or machine on support surfaces of the same type as those used for traditional hydraulic coatings, mainly:
- Masonry of breeze block, concrete block or brick jointed with hydraulic binders
- White concrete compliant with standard P 18.210 (ref: DTU 23.1).
- Hydraulic coatings compliant with standard P 15.201 (ref: DTU 26.1).
- Gobetis (Cement'in C, Cement'in P).
Composition
Tradi'chaux Clair is a blend of heavy lime, cement, lime sand, silicon sands and additives.
Characteristics
Tradi'chaux Clair is a heavy lime coating, ready to mix, designed to cover lumps, out-of-true spots, loose blocks and other elements spoiling the smoothness of a surface from 2 to 5 cm thick on facades.
Tradi'chaux Clair is applied in a 2 to 5 cm thick layer (spots of up to 8 cm are permissible) by hand or by machine.
For renovating property.
Preparation substrate
Substrates must be stable, sound, clean and dust-free, and free of all traces of organic matter.
Support surfaces must be free of all loose matter. Crumbly joints must be stripped back.
Tradi'chaux Clair can be applied directly to the support surface.
Smooth concretes should be given a prior treatment with Canti'plus Fixenduit or Canti'plus High-Grip.
In hot, windy or dry weather, substrates should be moistened a few hours before applying the coating. Porous or absorbent substrates should be moistened the day before.
When laying mortar, and during the hardening stage, the ambient temperature, plus that of the support base, should be neither lower than 5°C nor higher than 30°C.
The coating should not be applied to a wall that is frozen, thawing or likely to freeze in the hours following application
Application
Apply in one coat 3 cm thick:
For thicknesses up to 5 cm, use a mesh.
An anti-alkali treated fibreglass with a mesh of at least 8 mm may be applied immediately as a lining using a smoothing tool, plasterer's knife or trowel into the Tradi'chaux Clair.
Apply a second coat 2 cm thick immediately.
A metal mesh with hexagonal or rectangular mesh may be fixed into the masonry using galvanised staples or boat-building nails before applying a coating as a single layer forced through the mesh of up to 5 cm: thick.
1. Sprayed looking and crushed looking finish
The minimum thickness of the first application can range from 10 mm to 40 mm.
This layer should be allowed to 'draw' to produce the grain, which should be obtained by spraying a second layer 3 to 5 mm thick. The crushed look is obtained by passing a flexible trowel over the crests of the coating when still fresh.
2. Scraped finish
Scraped look: Apply the covering in 1 or 2 applications, then smoothen, even and scrape with a plasterer's knife.
When the coating starts to harden, scrape it off uniformly using a pointed trowel or scraper.
3. Trowel finish
Spray on the first coat to cover the bare surface. After leaving it for ±2hours, apply a second coat of ±5 mm thickness, smoothen and even with a plasterer's knife. As soon as the coating has hardened, finish it off with a trowel.

Composition
Tradi'chaux Color is a blend of heavy lime, cement, silicon sands and additives.
Characteristics
Tradi'chaux Color is a heavy lime coating, ready to mix, designed to produce a very fine trowelled or rubbed appearance.
Tradi'chaux Color is applied in a coating from 2 to 4 mm thick by hand or by spraying machine.
For renovating very smooth-looking property.
Preparation substrate
Substrates must be stable, sound, clean and dust-free, and free of all traces of organic matter.
Smooth concretes should be given a prior treatment with Bétoprim.
In hot, windy or dry weather, substrates should be moistened a few hours before applying the coating. Porous or absorbent substrates should be moistened the day before.
When laying mortar, and during the hardening stage, the ambient temperature, as well as that of the support base, should be neither lower than 5°C nor higher than 30°C.

Tradi’chaux Wasselonne
Natural hydraulic lime render
Field of Application
Tradi’chaux Wasselonne renders can be used both in renovations and in newbuild. Tradi’chaux Wasselonne can be applied manually or mechanically on supports of the same type as those on which traditional mineral renders are used, ie mainly:
- Masonry, concrete blocks or bricks with mortar composed of mineral binders,
- Mineral renders in accordance with standard P 15.201 (ref: DTU 26.1),
- Base coats like Tradi’chaux Gris or Tradi'chaux NHL.
Composition
Tradi’chaux Wasselonne is an industrial blend of natural hydraulic lime, white Portland cement, river sands, additives and admixtures.
Characteristics
Tradi’chaux Wasselonne is a ready to mix natural hydraulic lime render used as a decorative facade finish.
Tradi’chaux Wasselonne is applied by hand or by machine and can be finished in different ways. The plaster has the same beige tint as the Wasselonne lime. For the renovation of heritage buildings and constructions.
Preparation substrate
The substrates must be stable, sound, clean and dust-free, free from all traces of organic matter. The supports must be purged of unstable elements. The friable joints will be removed. Tradi’chaux Wasselonne can be applied directly to the substrate. Heterogeneous walls will first be covered with Tradi'chaux Gris or Tradi'chaux NHL.
In hot, windy or dry weather, the substrates should be moistened a few hours before applying the coating. In the case of porous and absorbent substrates, they will be moistened the day before. During the installation of the mortar, and during its hardening phase, the ambient temperature, as well as that of the support, cannot be lower than +5 ° C, nor higher than +30 ° C. Avoid applying the render to a frozen wall, in the process of thawing or which may be subject to freezing in the hours following application.
Application
1. Sprayed finish
The minimum thickness of the first application should be 10 mm to 13 mm at all points.
This layer should be allowed to 'set' before application of the final coat, which will be obtained by spraying a second layer 3 to 5 mm thick. A crushed look can be obtained by passing a flexible trowel over the crests of the coating when still fresh.
2. Scraped finish
Apply the render in 1 or 2 applications with a total thickness of 15 mm, then smoothen, with a plasterer's trowel.
When the render starts to harden, it will be scraped uniformly with a scraping tool. After finishing, the total thickness should be at least 12 mm.
3. Fine textured, troweled finish
Spray on the first layer to a minimum thickness of 8 to 10 mm. After a curing period of ±2 hours, spray on a second layer to a thickness of ± 5mm, leveled with a plasterer's trowel. As soon as the coating has hardened, smoothen with a trowel or float. Do not wet the surface to get a smoother finish of surface as this may cause superficial cracking.
